अल्मोड़ा। सोबन सिंह जीना विश्वविद्यालय में स्थापित सेंटर ऑफ एक्सीलेंस फाॅर एनआरडीएमएस इन उत्तराखंड से सत्र:2023-24 की एमएससी रिमोट सेंसिंग एंड जी0आई0एस. के छात्र अजय कुमार का चयन चाइना के शेनझेन विश्वविद्यालय में पीएच0डी0 के लिए हुआ है।

ज्ञातव्य है कि सोबन सिंह जीना विश्वविद्यालय में जी.आई.एस. में देश के कई राज्यों से एम.एससी. करने हेतु विद्यार्थी आते हैं। जिनका समय-समय पर देश एवं विदेश की उच्च शैक्षणिक संस्थाओं में प्लेसमेंट एवं पीएच.डी. के लिए चयन होता रहा है। इसी क्रम में जी.आई.एस के सत्र:2024 के छात्र अजय कुमार का चाइना स्थित चाइना के शेनझेन विश्वविद्यालय से पीएच.डी. करने के लिए चयन हुआ है। उनकी इस उपलब्धि पर विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति प्रो0 सतपाल सिंह बिष्ट, पूर्व कुलपति प्रो जगत सिंह बिष्ट, कुलसचिव डॉ देवेंद्र सिंह बिष्ट, विजिटिंग प्रोफेसर, सेंटर ऑफ एक्सीलेंस फाॅर एनआरडीएमएस इन उत्तराखंड प्रो0 जीवन सिंह रावत, परिसर निदेशक प्रो प्रवीण सिंह बिष्ट,जी.आई.एस. निदेशक डाॅ0 दीपक,डॉ हिमानी बिष्ट, डॉ सरिता पालनी आदि सहित विश्वविद्यालय के अधिकारियों एवं परिसरों के प्राध्यापकों ने हर्ष जताया है।
